Even managers have a dodgy side to them it seems, as Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp gave evidence to the court on Monday, over his alleged tax dodging with Portsmouth’s former Chairman Milan Mandaric. Redknapp is accused of transferring £180k of transfer bonuses to a bank account in Monaco, which is rumoured to have been in the name of his dog Rosie. What a lovely name! Apparently Redknapp has done this before, with the tax office unable to track bonus payments for the transfer of Rio Ferdinand from West Ham to Leeds to the same account.
It’s hilarious that in a time when money has consumed the soul of football with players becoming more greedy than ever, we have a well respected English manager trying to dodge tax! I guess money is everything to our game now!
